A new seven-storey, $350 million luxury 5-star hotel on Auckland’s waterfront, featuring 200 rooms across 15 room types, along with bars, restaurants, and cafés. A dramatic central skylit atrium rises above a basement car park set below sea level. The building’s exterior is wrapped in sliding and pivoting bronzed stainless-steel mesh screens, creating a shimmering, light-responsive façade. Designed in collaboration with AR+D, Singapore.
From 2015–2020, I held multiple roles throughout the project lifecycle, including:
Led the design and documentation of the façade, working closely with the façade engineer to resolve the complex and dynamic exterior. I produced over 30 sheets of details over 5–6 months.
Delivered the coordination model for the main contractor, ensuring seamless integration of building systems.
Oversaw construction observation, managed RFIs, site reporting, QA processes, and defect resolution through to façade completion.
Coordination model build for China Hawkins Construction.
In 2016, alongside my work on the Park Hyatt BIM Model, I took the lead in advancing the effective use of BIM within the practice. My approach—grounded in real-world architectural experience, traditional documentation, and on-site observation—enabled me to drive solutions through industry collaboration. Initially, I was a core team member in producing Revit-based façade detailing documentation. I was then tasked with leading a joint venture team across three companies to develop an LOD 300 model for construction coordination. Over six months, our four-person core team worked on a cloud-based collaborative platform to deliver an architectural model that was federated with structural and services models, ensuring seamless construction integration.
